Acceptable Use Policy

Mentionly helps you find conversations and join them honestly. This policy describes what you may not do with the Service. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

Engaging with communities

• Post replies yourself, from your own accounts. Mentionly drafts replies; it never posts for you, and you may not connect it to tools that post automatically at scale.
• Follow each platform's rules, including subreddit rules and Reddit's and Hacker News' guidelines on self-promotion.
• Disclose your affiliation when you mention your own product.
• Don't spam: no mass, repetitive or unsolicited promotional replies or messages.

Prohibited content and conduct

• Fake reviews, astroturfing, sock-puppet accounts or vote manipulation.
• Impersonating people or organisations, or misrepresenting who you are.
• Harassment, hate speech, threats, or targeting individuals.
• Illegal, fraudulent, deceptive or infringing content, or content promoting illegal activity.
• Using data from the Service to build profiles of private individuals, for surveillance, or for decisions about employment, credit, housing or insurance.
• Collecting personal data in breach of privacy laws.

Protecting the Service

• Don't probe, scan or test the security of the Service without our written permission.
• Don't overload the Service, bypass plan limits or rate limits, or share accounts and API keys outside your team.
• Don't scrape the Service, resell it, or use it to build a competing product.
• Don't reverse-engineer the Service except where the law allows it.

AI features

Review AI-generated drafts and answers before using them. Don't use Ask Mentionly, the API or the MCP server to generate prohibited content or to extract data at a volume that goes beyond normal use of your plan.

Enforcement

If we believe you have broken this policy, we may remove content, limit features, or suspend or terminate your account. Where possible we will contact you first. Serious or repeated violations may lead to termination without a refund.
